Manjusha Nair has a Diploma in Cinema with specialization in Film Editing, from the Film & T.V. Institute of India, Pune.
Her first film ‘Manav’…on Eunuchs and the psycho-social aspects of their life had a world premiere at Cinema Du Reel, at Paris in 1990.The film went on to participate in Sakshi , celebrating 25 years of Independent Indian Documentary Bangalore, Munich Docu Film Fest and the Neubrandenberg Festival,Germany.
She has over 15 years of experience working in varied capacities as Director, Conceptualiser, and Project- Coordinator in multi hued projects for Film and Video.
She has also worked with many social sector organisations creating films for their needs as well as facilitating Training Workshops.
She has participated in Educational initiatives with Middle level and High school Children across States to teach Digital Film Making and using Film as text to enable language learning.
She is passionate about the different uses of video/film as a medium whether to facilitate learning ,empowerment or create spaces for dialogue beside the traditional onus of the medium as a form of expression.
She is also faculty at Srishti School of Art Design and Technology, Bangalore, where she has been teaching since 2009 until now.
Currently, she is engaged in realizing a framework and editing of a film on Indian Jazz Musicians, encapsulating the lives of 5 musicians who left India way back in the 80”s and migrated to Europe in search of their sound.
She was selected as one of the Artists -in-residence at Arte studio Ginestrelle in the Regional Area of Subasio Mountains, along-with the City Council of Assisi(UNESCO World Heritage Site), Italy, for the month of November,2015.
She produced a 6 min short film/image poem during her sojourn at the residency , titled Imprints:The self,The sky and The waters. Imprints.. was part of the Exhibition curated by Arte Studio Ginestrelle and presented by The International Contemporary Art Guide, in collaboration with the City Council of Assisi.
